I'm really loving the idea of both Water People who can go between fresh and salt similar to some fish species, and if you have mammalian ones then the change in water type probably won't be as big an issue for them, similar to estuary dolphins.
I'm also really loving the idea of various depths of sea people. Some of the deep trench dwellers are almost never seen by any air breather, and they only come up as far as the twilight zone, while the sea people who live in the middle area are the great traders of the sea since they sit in the range most people can potentially visit. Meanwhile the shallow dwellers are the main trade point to everyone who breaths air.
