Gluten-free, egg-free, veggie burgers for the discerning ghetto gourmet

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra-firm tofu, drained but not pressed
  • 1 tin pinto beans or cannelini (they're close to the same flavour)
  • 1 packet instant chilli mix (the kind that wants to be added to a pound of beef and a pound of beans)
  • 1 cup dry oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce

Cooking Instructions

In a food processor, spin the oats first. Then add drained beans, chilli mix, and tomato sauce, blend until smooth-ish. Dump that in a big bowl (2L or larger). Put diced tofu in food processor and spin until smooth. Scrape into bowl. Mix until it's about the same colour all the way through. Leave it the fuck alone for half an hour so the oatmeal rehydrates. Make 6 patties, fry for ~10m per side.
